PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This enduring activity will cover the management of patients at high risk for developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to hypercholesterolemia.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for lipidologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients at high risk for developing CVD due to hypercholesterolemia.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing the CME activity, learners should be better able to:

  • Explain how lowering LDL-C levels reduces residual CVD risk in patients with persistent hypercholesterolemia and at high risk for poor CV outcomes
  • Review mechanisms of action, clinical profiles, and position in treatment regimens for PCSK9 inhibitors in patients with persistent hypercholesterolemia and at high risk for poor CV outcomes
  • Apply best practices for the identification and management of patients with persistent hypercholesterolemia and at high risk for poor CV outcomes who are candidates for tailored, intensified lipid-lowering regimens based on clinical guidance, individual patient risk factors, comorbidities, and prior treatment responses
  • Discuss the designs and results of long-term CV outcomes studies examining PCSK9 inhibitors in different patient populations with persistent hypercholesterolemia and at high risk for poor CV outcomes
